Fortschrittchen

What has happened from version to version. The rules of the app stay what they are: no streaks, no calories, no account.

A training calendar, a widget, and everything editable after the fact

Submitted — arriving as soon as Apple approves it

The training calendar

  • A new tab with a month view. Under each day sit small coloured dots for what actually happened.
  • Five kinds are built in — strength, cardio, strength endurance, mobility and rest — and you can add as many of your own as you like, with a name and a colour.
  • Strength and cardio fill themselves in. By hand you only mark what happened outside the app: Sunday’s yoga, the bike ride, the rest day.
  • An empty day looks like nothing — no outline, no pale dot, no shading. The calendar shows what was, never what is missing. No counter, no quota, no “best week”.
  • The marks come out as their own CSV, one row per day and kind.

A widget for your home screen

  • Your staircase, the next machine you haven’t done and today’s dots — at a glance, without opening the app. In two sizes.
  • The little Fortschrittchen sits on it. Quietly: in the widget it doesn’t move.

Mistyped? It can be put right

  • Sets can be deleted and corrected — the one you just logged as well as the one from three weeks ago. In History, a tap on a bar opens that day’s sets.
  • And this is the point: the app recalculates afterwards. If you once mistyped 150 kg, you never saw progress again — the bar hung too high. Now it comes down with the wrong set, and the sessions after it get their steps retroactively.
  • Machines and exercises can be renamed. A typo no longer costs you the whole history.
  • Photos can be swapped or removed, and you can pick an icon — if you would rather not take pictures at the gym, you don’t have to.
  • Your own exercises may pick a drawing, from every one the app knows.

The machines are drawn now

  • In the machine list each machine carries a drawing of itself instead of a generic symbol. You can now recognise a lat pulldown by it being one.

Small things

  • The app icon can take on your chosen accent colour — a switch in Settings, off until you turn it on.
  • An exercise you type in yourself lands in the list instead of starting right away. Typing a name usually means setting things up.
  • The first time at an exercise, the how-did-it-go question is skipped: it would have only one answer, and a question with one answer is not a question.

English

  • The whole app now speaks English as well, and follows the language of your device.
  • Machine names, exercise suggestions and the reminder are translated too — not just the buttons.
  • Numbers follow your region: 50.5 kg where a point belongs, 50,5 kg where a comma does.
  • Nothing changes for existing entries. An exercise you created keeps the name you gave it.

The lock screen, and everything from the gym floor

During an exercise

  • The break timer keeps running on the lock screen and in the Dynamic Island. The phone stays in your pocket.
  • Weight and reps can be adjusted there, and the set can be logged — without opening the app.
  • This only happens while you are actually training, and it ends with the exercise. There is still exactly one scheduled reminder.

Started work stays put

  • Leave an exercise without tapping “Done” and your sets are still there next time you open it.
  • Started on the iPhone, finished on the watch: one session ends up in your history, not two.

Machines and exercises

  • Eleven more machines in the catalog — glute machine, hip thrust, assisted pull-up machine, lateral raise machine, captain’s chair, kettlebells and more, plus seventeen new exercise suggestions.
  • Machine settings follow the machine: the incline on the treadmill, the rotation on the torso machine, nothing at all on a dumbbell.
  • Exercises can be removed and sorted.
  • The back extension is a strength machine now and has a weight field.

History

  • The bars carry weight and reps — “50 kg” alone only tells half the story.

The mascot

  • The white ball on the staircase has a face: two dot eyes, a smile. It blinks, hops on a step forward, and shows up in the monthly look back and on the watch.
  • It only celebrates. After a break it looks exactly as it always does — there is no disapproving glance, not even a hidden one.
  • The exercise suggestions carry a small animated pictogram. It is a recognition aid, not an instruction.
  • Anyone with “Reduce Motion” switched on gets all of it still — without anything missing.

Small things

  • The weight increment can be set centrally and overridden per machine; odd values snap back onto the grid next time.
  • An “All done” card at the end of the training day.
  • Entry on the watch has steppers and large round buttons instead of only the crown.
  • The background follows your accent color.

Fixed

  • A set logged on the lock screen started a break of 0:00 length.
  • “Next exercise” disappeared when the training day counted as done.
1.0.1 August 2026

The beginning

  • Your gym as a machine list in the order you actually walk it — with a photo if the name means nothing.
  • Several exercises per machine, each with its own log.
  • The one question before every exercise, and the suggestion for next time that follows from it.
  • Entry with steppers and a break timer; cardio as duration or intervals.
  • The staircase: every increase a step, and it never goes back down.
  • History, monthly look back and CSV export.
  • Apple Watch, usable without the iPhone in range, and a lock screen widget with the next machine.
  • Exactly one reminder, ten days after the last session.
